People in these four UK areas won't survive nuclear attack, security expert warns
A security expert has criticised the "lack of official guidance" on how to respond in a nuclear attack, pinpointing four locations as hazardous.
This follows as the UK strengthens its support for Gulf allies while a military historian cautions that Britain is unprepared for an attack.
Iran possesses missiles capable of reaching the UK, and historian and author Dr Mark Felton has commented on Iran's missile arsenal. Felton informed his YouTube viewers on Mark Felton Productions that the UK is "not prepared for any such attacks".
He emphasised our lack of an Israeli-style Iron Dome air defence system or surface-to-air missiles safeguarding our infrastructure or nuclear facilities.
Anthony Glees, professor at the University of Buckinghamshire, agreed, saying: "If you live in central London or near a military target eg Faslane or RAF air base, I'm afraid you'd be incinerated at once."
The remaining two locations to avoid are hills or mountains or flats.
Prof Glees explained: "Don't try to head for the hills, don't live in an apartment block, the higher you are, the greater the danger."
He added: "We lack official guidance from the Govt on this which I think is fairly disgraceful."
This development comes after the MOD's confirmation the UK plans to purchase additional Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMM), aimed at equipping British forces and assisting regional partners, including providing UK-based training where necessary.
Lightweight Multirole Missiles, manufactured by Thales UK in Belfast, have already shown exceptional effectiveness for air defence operations across the Middle East.
The discussions focused on potential new defensive equipment and technology that UK-based manufacturers could quickly deliver to allies to counter Iranian drone and missile strikes.
Representatives from established industry leaders and innovative new companies participated alongside ambassadors and defence attachés from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Iraq and Jordan.
Defence Secretary John Healey MP stated: "Iran's indiscriminate attacks are a threat to Britain, our allies and our partners in the region. That's why our dedicated Armed Forces are taking defensive action in the Middle East.
"A nation's Armed Forces are only as strong as the industry that supports them. I'm proud of how our military and industry is stepping up together - just as we are for Ukraine - to offer rapid support to our Gulf partners. This is the best of our British industry, innovators and military in action."
The Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry, Luke Pollard MP, stated: "As Iranian attacks against our partners in the Gulf continue, the UK is stepping up our support - both military and industrial. We are committed to defending British people, interests, and partners across the region.
"This event showcases a new approach: actively pulling in allies and industry to drive the pace on the defence kit the Middle East needs. We are bringing in British expertise to help our partners, removing barriers, and championing innovative UK-based industry."
This announcement arrives as Britain and Ukraine establish a pioneering new partnership aimed at bolstering global defensive capabilities against the proliferation of affordable, cutting-edge military equipment, including drones.
