Lamar Jackson loses longtime Ravens teammate to Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars, led by Trevor Lawrence, add a key piece for the upcoming NFL season—one who was a former teammate of Lamar Jackson with the Baltimore Ravens.
The NFL has entered a crucial period leading up to the start of the season, as many players have decided to continue their careers with new teams. In this case, it was confirmed that an important player from the Baltimore Ravens, who once protected Lamar Jackson, will join the Jacksonville Jaguars led by Trevor Lawrence.
Patrick Mekari, historic offensive lineman for the Ravens, has officially agreed to join Jacksonville and will become the new protector of Trevor Lawrence with the Jaguars. The former California Golden Bears player leaves Baltimore after five years, where he was a key blocker for Lamar Jackson.
The news was confirmed by NFL insider Adam Schefter, who announced Mekari’s arrival to the team via his official X (formerly Twitter) account. From now on, the Jaguars will be led by Liam Coen.
“Source: Jaguars reached agreement with former Ravens OL Patrick Mekari,” Schefter reported via @AdamSchefter. The 27-year-old former Raven is set to sign a three-year $37.5 million contract with $20 million guaranteed.
Since joining the Ravens, Mekari has played in 88 games, starting in 53 of them. There’s no doubt that the Jaguars are strengthening their offensive line for the upcoming season.
Trevor Lawrence has a new backup
The Jacksonville Jaguars aim to reclaim their reputation as a tough team and are looking to be the big surprise of the season. With the goal of building a competitive roster, they signed a new backup for Trevor Lawrence ahead of the 2025 season.
Nick Mullens, former Minnesota Vikings quarterback, joins Coach Coen‘s team and will be the new backup quarterback for the Jaguars. The news was confirmed by NFL insider Mike Garafolo.
“The #Jaguars have agreed to terms with QB Nick Mullens on a two-year, $6.5 million deal with $3 million guaranteed, source says. The new backup to Trevor Lawrence, Mullens goes from Minnesota to Jacksonville along with new Jags assistant Grant Udinski,” the insider stated via @MikeGarafolo.
