Xiaomi Redmi 3’s successors Redmi 4, Redmi 4A Launched

After the huge success of Xiaomi Redmi 3, Xiaomi has launched 2 affordable mid-range smartphones – Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A. These new devices will be 4G VoLTE capable. The new Redmi phones will be running the latest MIUI 8 version over Android Marshmallow.

The company has also launched a premium variant of the phone: Redmi 4 Pro Edition.

Both the phones are exclusively available in China as of now and are currently up for pre-orders for their first sale on Monday.


The smartphones bear identical metal unibody designs, 2.5D curved glass displays, joined with a metal frame.

The phones have hybrid dual-SIM slots.

The phones will be available in three colour variants – Gold, Grey and Silver.




The Redmi 4 standard edition will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (octa-core 1.4GHz). The Redmi 4 Pro Edition will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (octa-core 2GHz), while the Redmi 4A is powered by a Qualcomm 425 CPU.


The Redmi 4 standard edition will have 3GB RAM, its premium edition will have 2GB RAM. The Redmi 4A, on the other hand, will come with 2GB RAM.

Internal storage-

The Redmi 4 standard edition will come with 16GB internal memory, its premium edition will have 32GB internal memory. The Redmi 4A will come with 32GB of internal memory. All the phones will support an expandable memory of up to 128GB via microSD card slot.


The Redmi 4 bears a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display, while its prime edition, on the other hand, sports a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. Redmi 4A features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display.


In terms of optics, all the variants bear a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, a 5-lens system, and a f/2.2 aperture, while the front camera bears a 5-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.


All the phones support 4G LTE connectivity.

Finger-Print Scanner-

Redmi 4 and its pro edition has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel, while 4A doesn’t have one.


Redmi 4 is backed by a 4,100mAh battery,while the Redmi 4A has a 3,120mAh battery inside.

The Redmi 4 Standard edition is priced at 699 Yuan (approx Rs 6,900) and the Redmi 4 Pro is available for 899 Yuan (approx Rs 8,800). The Redmi 4A is priced at 499 Yuan (Rs 4933).

These new smartphones are launched after the launch of 2 premium Xiaomi devices last month: MI NOTE 2 and MI MIX.
