Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has received an advisory threat from Maharashtra State Intelligence Department, as per India Today report. The advisory cited that the death threats are by a terrorist outfit operating from Pakistan.
For the uninitiated, the singer sparked a controversy via his tweet in which he expressed his anger against the use of loudspeakers due to early morning Azaan and forcing religiousness on people. His comments didn’t go well with many religious groups and he was severely bashed by them, as a result!
The latest report from the intelligence department stated that Sonu can be attacked at any public place, promotional activity or during an event. As a result, now the singer has a special security by Mumbai Police.
Recently, Sonu even made a statement against the playing of National Anthem in theatres or restaurants. He stated, “If the national anthem of Pakistan is played and all Pakistanis are standing, I will also stand out of respect for that country and those people. There are some people who are saying the national anthem should be there (in cinema halls), some say it should not be there. The national anthem is a prestigious and sensitive thing and I think it should not be played in certain places, in movie theatres or restaurants,” Hindustan Times reported.
