New repair program for iPhone 6 plus ‘touch disease’ launched by Apple

iPhone 6 Plus users have been facing an issue with the display of their device. It is being called ‘touch disease’ as it causes the iPhone 6 Plus display to start flickering or the multi-touch function stops working. iPhone 6 Plus users have complained of touchscreen not working and usually a “thin gray line” appears at the top of the display.

Apple has launched the repair program but it is not doing the repair free of cost. The company says- ”This issue happens because a device might have dropped too many times on a hard surface, which caused further stress on the device”.

Apple will be charging $149 for the repair program provided the phone is in working order and the screen in not cracked. Apple suggests the customers to back up their data to iTunes or iCloud before giving the device for service.

This is a worldwide program, so iPhone 6 Plus users in India can also go to the authorized Apple Service Centre if they’ve been facing this issue. Apple says it will cover “iPhone 6 Plus devices for 5 years after the first retail sale of the unit.”
