A Low Intensity Tremor recorded in Delhi NCR and surroundings

At around 4:30 a.m. this morning, an earthquake shook parts of North Delhi and Haryana.  The tremors lasted for about a minute and shook Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Haryana. The recorded magnitude was 4.4 on the Richter scale. Slight shaking of the buildings was recorded by people despite the synchronization of time was a bit too early for the folks to pay heed to the hazard.

As per the UCGS, the epicenter was some 10 kilometers southeast of Bawal in Haryana. No immediate loss of life or property was recorded anywhere. Many folks said that the intensity of the quake was strong enough to wake them up. Though, no serious threat of the after-shocks has yet been issued by the authorities.

Still, people are advised to stay careful as tremors usually are followed up by after-shocks.  Just a little bit of understanding and awareness is always good to avoid problems.
