Instagram has Snapchat envy. That much is clear from a new feature the Facebook-owned app ‘Instagram’ announced, which is a new update to the app that will notify users when someone takes a screenshot of their story. This is a much-needed privacy feature to let people know who is saving their pictures. In addition to this, users will also be notified if the user replays their story.
Instagram Stories has received a lot of flak for resembling Snapchat. Now its new update is also very akin to Snapchat. Instagram said the following on its blog “Unlike other messages in Direct, these photos and videos disappear from your friends’ inboxes after they have seen them. And you will see if they replayed it or took a screenshot”.
Since the time Facebook has acquired Instagram, the app has come a long way from being just another photo sharing app with filters. Despite the fact that Instagram has borrowed a handful of features, it still has more users on a monthly basis as compared to Snapchat.
The update is not visible right away and is restricted to a few regions. But make sure that you update the app right away to see if the changes are visible.
