Google Pixel to take down Apple iPhone?

In a 100-minute Google event held in San Francisco, world’s first ever Google-branded smartphones have been revealed along with a few more hardware launches. The phones are named as Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL.

Google Pixel would support a 5-inch full-HD AMOLED display, while Google Pixel XL will have a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display. Both would be cushioned with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

Both the smartphones sport 12.3-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX378 sensor, PDAF, a large f/2.0 aperture and 1.55-micron pixels. The 12.3MP camera has been given a rating of 89 on DXoMark which is the highest on any smartphone camera. Thus, making it the best smartphone camera ever made.

The rear camera is the 8-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX179 sensor, a f/2.4 aperture, and 1.4-micron pixels.

Pixel smartphones will be the first phones to have Google Assistant built-in. For assistance, you can hit the home button, or say “OK Google”, Google assistant would get enabled on your screen.

The smartphones will be available in 32 GB as well as 128 GB variants.

By providing an unlimited storage of great HDR+ photos and 4K videos, without any loss of quality, Google’s new smartphones would make sure you never run out of storage space on your device.

Google Duo, Google’s latest video calling app, which was created to take over the likes of Facetime, would come pre-installed on the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.

The handset will automatically update in the background as soon as a new update is made available.

Since Apple provides an easy way to move data, files, and contacts from an Android phone to an iPhone, Google’s Pixel does the same. The new Pixel phone would be accompanied by a Quick Switch Adapter, which would allow the users to move contacts, calendar events, photos, videos, music, iMessages and more from an iPhone to an Android phone.

Pixel users will have a 24×7 customer support via voice call as well as chat. The users will also have the option to share their phone’s screen with the support personnel to get proper assistance.

Google Pixel will come with USB Type-C and will include the 3.5mm audio jack

The smartphone will be available for pre-orders from today in Australia, Canada, Germany, UK, and the US. However, in India, the pre-orders start from October 13th.

The shipping of the new smartphones would start by the end of this month.

Pixel smartphones would be available in Quite Black, Really Blue (limited edition), and Very Silver colour variants.

The Google Pixel is priced at $649 for 32GB variant in the US, $749 for 128GB; Pixel XL is priced at $769 for 32GB,and $869 for 128GB variant.
