Dhanteras marks the onset of the celebration of the auspicious Diwali festival. Also known as Dhanatrayodashi, the festival also signifies the first day of the five-day Diwali celebrations and falls on the thirteenth lunar day of Karthik Krishna Paksha, of the Hindu month of Kartik.
Dhanteras will be celebrated on October 28 this year. It is believed that buying metals like Gold and Silver on this day brings prosperity and good luck for the entire family.
In addition to Gold and Silver, people also buy new utensils to mark the festival.
On this day, Lord Kubera, the God of wealth is worshiped along with Goddess Lakshmi.
According to the Hindu mythology, on the day of Dhanteras, Goddess Lakshmi came out of the ocean during the churning of the Milky Sea by the demons and gods and blessed Lord Kuber.

Pradosh Kaal: 5:35 pm – 8:21 pm
