Cyrus Mistry sacked from Tata Sons; Ratan Tata returns as Interim Chief

In a press conference held after the closure of the stock market this afternoon, Tata Sons company announced that its Board has replaced Mr. Cyrus P. Mistry as Chairman of Tata Sons.

The company gave no indication regarding the reason for Tata’s sacking.

A new selection committee, including Ratan Tata but not featuring Mistry, has also been set up to look for a candidate to replace him in a matter of four months.

Cyrus Mistry took over as Ratan Tata’s successor in November 2011.

Born on July 4, 1968, Mistry completed his graduation in civil engineering from London’s Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine and followed it up with a masters in Management from the London Business School.
